I've been interested in hypnotism since I was a kid but could never find any information on it. Fast forward 20 odd years and a career change to a psychotherapist beckoned. My tutor mentioned he was a hypnotherapist and offered to point me in the right direction. From that moment I was hooked again and for the last four years it has been my main focus.

I had my first experience with Hypnosis when I was only 10 years old. I found a book on hypnosis, on the cover it had a darkened figure of a man with his hands stretched out in front of him with lightning Bolts coming out his fingertips, he was pointing them at a young girl. The girl looked like she was under his spell. The title of this book was "How To Hypnotize Anyone and Have Control Over Them" ( or something to that effect)

I was so excitied to get this power. I read every word on every page from cover to cover. I was so excitied to get this awsome power, I went to school and tried this new found power on my friends and to my surprise, they all did what I asked. This was way to easy, I thought maybe they were playing with me, so when I hypnotized them again I added a new suggestion, they would give me their lunch money, then I emerged them and went on my way forgetting the suggestion I had given them. Later that day while I was in the lunch line my friends came to me and started giving me all their money, putting it in my pockets! I told them they didn't have to do that, but they insisted, and at that very moment I knew there was something to this Hypnosis stuff!

Through the years that followed, I studied everything I could get my hands on dealing with Hypnosis. I learned I have no control over anyone, but I have learned how to help many friends and family members using hypnosis. With much encouragement from these same people I sold my business, and decided to make helping people through hypnosis my livelihood
. With all these people encouraging me, I enrolled in the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy.(which at the time was the only school recognized by the FL Board of Education)

So some 40 years after reading that book, I became a Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the American Council of Hypnosist Examiners (A.C.H.E.)

I am living my dream, helping people who had no idea there was help with their pain and other ailments and doing all this in Beautiful Sunny S.W. Florida.

    Hi all

It is a great pleasure to be part of this group. I am starting my training in September (with Hypnosis Academy in Dublin) and I am so looking forward to it. I have been devouring everything that I can find on the net in relation to hypnosis. I have a background in homeless services both in the UK and Ireland. I studied clinical counselling at the Institute of counselling in Glasgow, Scotland. I have worked with many clients over the years that looking back now they could have been transformed by Hypnosis.

I have a weight problem and decided to give hypnosis a try and bought a book called "you can be thin" by Marisa Peer and after reading it and listening to the CD I lost two stone and was transformed from a total sceptic to a full blown believer! I immediately saw the benefit of hypnosis to the clients that I am currently working with and after looking around at the courses available in Dublin decided on Hypnosis Academy. I e-mailed all the hypnosis schools that I could find and only one responded (Hypnosis Academy) this I found very disappointing and they all lost a potential student. As Susan Wallace (senior tutor at Hypnosis Academy) said “We got to treat our students as we do our clients. We all need each other.”

I am considering starting my own practice after I complete the Diploma course (branching out on my own is very scary!). I really feel that I can make a difference and hopefully a living from hypnosis. My journey so far has been exciting and it can only get better.

    Thanks for listening.

    Paul

I was talking with a guy this week and was telling him about this group. And, he told me he because a hypnotist so that he would be more interesting to "chicks". He went on to say, that he was thinking about becoming a rock star but he hadn't been very good a guitar. I hope he just moves on to something else. Maybe I should buy him a harmonica. ;-)
